While presenting the gifts which include toiletries, confectionaries and other food items on behalf of the visiting AAUA corps members, Michael Adie, one of the corps members, explains that the purpose of the visit is borne out of genuine love and care to give their widows’ mite to the vulnerable at the home whom are women and girls.
The Home Manager Sr. Emerachi explained that the home provides care for mentally challenged women and female children. She pointed out that medical care and drugs administration are free for patients with Tuberculosis, HIV, Leprosy and some other medical cases. She added that the home is however challenged in getting needed drugs for mentally ill persons because the drugs are very expensive and not subsidized by government or relevant organizations.
The Sister identified AAUA students as cheerful givers who do pay regular visits to the home to donate one thing or the other. She called on well-meaning individuals around Akoko land to imbibe and continue the act of giving.
